Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911. He was born

to Nelle Wilson and John Edward Reagan. Ronald had one brother, Neil Reagan. The Reagans moved to Dixon, Illinois, the place he considered home. His first job was as a lifeguard at a local pool. In 1928, he graduated from Dixon High School, where he was student body president. After high school, he attended Eureka College where he majored in economics and sociology. Here, he also served as student body president.

Reagan got a temporary job broadcasting for a sports network, and was picked up by NBC and given nation-wide media exposure. Reagan enlisted in the Army Reserve as a private, but was soon promoted to a 2nd Lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps of the Cavalry.

Reagan’s acting talents were discovered by a Warner Brothers agent who asked

him to play a role in the movie “Brother Rat”. On the set of this movie, he met his wife,

Jane Wyman. They married in 1940. In 1941, they had their first child, Maureen.

Reagan was called to serve in California in the Army’s First Motion Picture Unit

where he helped make over four hundred training films. In 1943, he was promoted to

captain. In 1945, he was discharged.
He resumed his acting career after this. He was in fifty three motion pictures and

one television movie. Reagan and his wife, Jane, had their second child, Michael, in

1945. In 1949, they divorced. He remarried to Nancy Davis in 1952. His first child with

her, Patricia, was born later that same year.
Reagan was elected governor of Illinois twice, in 1966 and 1970. He ran for

president in 1975 as a Republican candidate. He lost the first time, but was elected when

he ran again in 1980. He served two terms in office.
In 1994, Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He lived for ten years

with this ailment. He passed away on June 4, 2004.

I chose Ronald Reagan for the Power of One project because of his political views.
I was raised in a very politically aware family, and I agree with Reagan's beliefs.
Also, I happen to own a t-shirt with one of his quotes on it. "I've noticed that everyone
who is for abortion has already been born." I like him.
Reagan lived through most of the 1900's. He was alive during the civil rights movement.
He was alive for both World War I and World War II. The Great Depression was an effect
of both of these things. The final two states, Alaska and Hawaii, were added to the United
States of America in 1959. The Korean War began in 1950 and the Vietnam War in 1965.
During his term, Reagan worked toward having a time of peace.
Reagan's impact on the world would have been that, during the eight years that he served,
he attemped to cut taxes in the U.S. and worked toward peace. America is said to have had
it's longest time of peace and it was without a depression or recession. This is how Reagan
bettered the economy. Reagan also worked to improve relations with the Soviet Union. He and
Mikhail Gorbachev created a treaty to stop nuclear missles against each other. Reagan worked
to achieve "peace through strength". He increased defense spending by 35 percent. This is how
he has affected government. Before he was a politician, Reagan was an actor. He had a role in
fifty three motion pictures and one television movie. The media is a large part of today's culture,
and the fact that he took part in it, starring in various films, made him a celebrity before he even
reached office.
note: I am aware that the formatting of this is all messed up. I went in and edited it but as soon as
I saved and went back, it was still the same. Please don't dock points. I love you Ms Smith.

Amelia Earhart began her career as a pilot as a nurse in the military. She wasn’t planning to fly, but ended up becoming more and more interested in it as she was exposed to it. She then took a ten minute plane ride, her first; that she said changed her life. She took flying lessons for a mere ten hours and began to fly alone. This was surprising to me since she took so little of a time to learn, and began flying solo immediately. She, after a few years of flying, decided to try to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. She was never seen again. I don’t believe she affected the world enough to be a Power of One candidate.

Joel Rosenberg is a Christian author. He’s written many books including The Last Jihad, The Last Days, The Ezekiel Option, The Copper Scroll, Epicenter: How the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your World. He is the founder and president of the Joshua Fund, which donates to relieve victims of war and terrorism in Israel. He has been interviewed on more than 300 radio and TV programs and was the subject of two cover stories in World magazine. He has spoken in many countries including Russia, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Belgium and the White House. It amazes me that he spoke of Christ in places where it is illegal to be a Christian, and punishable by death, like Israel. He was born of a Gentile mother and a Jewish father, but he is a Christian. I believe that he has potential as a Power of One subject.

Mother Teresa was a missionary in Calcutta, India. She opened homes for the poor and for lepers. She spent her entire life helping out those who needed help. She brought many people to Christ that would not have known Him otherwise. She was born in 1910 and died in 1997. In 1973, she received the Templeton Award, and in 1983, the Nobel Prize for Peace. Mother Teresa did not live for herself, but spent her life working for the benefit of others, which amazes me. I admire people like that above all others. I believe that she would be an excellent candidate for Power of One.
