Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin was born in 1879 in Georgia. Stalin was raised there and later learned to speak Russian. Stalin joined the Marxist movement in 1903 and was a leading party member by 1917. By 1922 he was the Secretary General of the Communist party. By the early 1930’s he had became the sole dictator of the Soviet Union. Stalin had made a lot of purges and executions when he became the dictator to people that helped him. Many of the acts that Stalin had committed made it obvious that he wanted to prevent the establishment of one overall ruler. After World War II the Soviet Union emerged as the second greatest industrial power. Stalin had conquered other weaker powers in acts of “protection from the expected German’s” but never gave the land back. Stalin had died on March 5th 1953. Stalin’s claim to fame was his ability to bring communism into the world and spread it though is Eastern Europe satellites.

Joseph Stalin was a man who could influence the world. He had done just that. Joseph stated to throw the idea of communism into the world. Even though he did manipulate the original ideas of Karl Marx the world still believed that communism could be used as a better form over government then most. Also Stalin was just a powerful man. The KGB took anyone that tried to confront him about his power away. He set up working camps in Siberia. Stalin was one of the biggest names in the 40’s and that’s why I chose him. Honestly I hate him, but he is the most interesting ruler that I can imagine.

Stalin reigned during the Russian Revolution and was basically the Russian Revolution. The world had just ended with World War I and life was brutal. World war II also started to emerge during his rule. During World War II he started to use his geniuses and moved into neighboring countries using them as defense post against the German invasion. During this time in Russia, Communism was making Stalin a tyrant or at least what it had shown. Stalin had many purges during his reign so that he could climb to the top of the Communist power later and did just that.

Joseph Stalin was a powerful figure in the world during his ruling. He had changed everything about the Soviet Union and changed much of the world around him. During that time people thought that it would be a good idea for communism in many places and people wanted to change there government because they thought it could work. Joseph himself just influenced the world and became a household name. I believe he did more bad than good. Also his affects on the economy of Russia could be drastic. In Communism the money is meant to be spread around the country. Evenly distributed so that everyone could have the same amount of money but that never happened. He had changed are world and lead people to believe that Communism is the way to go.

Rose Bonheur was the first woman to start the going to school in France. Since her father was in artist she was raised to be one. She had also gone threw her father’s school and when she was older she then started to run the school. But once her father died she decided to give up the school and then painted for the rest of her life. She died at age 77 but she made it so that women could go to school and actually be educated. I was surprised that she isn’t that well known and that she loved animals so much. I think that she should have been better known since, well, she made it so that women could go to school. I wasn’t surprised that she painted for the rest of her life after she retired from her father’s school because art is a passion. But I’m not going to lie she doesn’t actually see to be that much of an interesting person because she just doesn’t see to interesting. Rose Bonheur has potential to be one of the people for Power of One but it might be hard considering that there is almost no info on the one page that I went to and that I actually never knew who she was in the past.

Ted Turner is the man that owns a lot of TV stations like; TBS, TNT, and CNN. He started of with TBS after his father had died and he took the money that he inherited and used it for the television companies. Later in life he also donated 1,000,000,000 dollars to the United Nations programs. I did not know who Ted turner was and that was why I picked him. Ted turner made a lot of the TV channels that I now watch. This actually shocks me considering I never knew who he was. And when I red that he had donated 1 billion dollars to the United Nations programs I was I shock even though for a man that is as rich as him it probably is pocket change (complete sarcasm). Ted Turner has a lot of room to be on the Power of One project because he changed all areas that you were asking for. He changed the technology of our lives by letting us watch more and more channels on TV. This actually affects our culture directly. Some say it did it for worse but some say it made it better for us. He might not have changed the government but he did donate those 1 billion dollars of pocket change to the United Nations programs, which I find very amazing.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn won the noble prize for literature in 1972. He was imprisoned in Russian working camps and also survived stomach cancer. He surprised me because I really didn’t know whom I was clicking on at all. He was a prison camp worker. Which is really crazy that he survived that and then got exiled from Russia? He doesn’t seem like much of a man for the Power of One though because he only seemed to have thrived in literature and pure test of survivability. But he would be and interesting man to learn about even though he does seem kind of boring.
